- Loud, habitual snoring, often reported by a partner, who is also regularly sleep disturbed, leading to poor relationships and separation sleeping, which can become habitual
- Chronic daytime tiredness, persistent low energy, poor concentration, which can be very debilitating in everyday life
- Difficulty falling asleep or maintaining asleep (insomnia), which can be spontaneous and very frustrating for a tired poor sleeper
- Unexplained raised blood pressure or cardiac symptoms which may be sleep-related, for example irregular heartbeats, palpitations and associated anxiety
- Sleep disruption may often be associated with menopause
- Shift work or irregular work schedules regularly affect quality sleep, due to the disruptive nature of variation in circadian rhythm
