  • Pauses in nighttime breathing, gasping or choking during sleep
  • Unrefreshing sleep, waking up tired with morning headaches or dry mouth
  • Loud, habitual snoring, often reported by a partner, who is also sleep disturbed, often leaving the bedroom to find somewhere else to sleep 
  • Daytime tiredness, persistent low energy, intermittent poor concentration

  • Unexplained raised blood pressure or cardiac symptoms, irregular heartbeats, rates and rhythms, which may be sleep-related
  • Sleep pattern disruption often associated with Menopause
  • Shift work or irregular work schedules affecting a poor quality sleep

When to seek help

Discuss your concerns with your General Practitioner, if you have one, requesting a referral via health mail to info@beaconshc.ie or Health Link BeaconSleepHealth@healthlink.ie for assessment if you have any of the symptoms outlined above, if a partner notices pauses in your breathing, if sleepiness affects your work/productivity and/or driving, or if you cannot tolerate CPAP.

If you do not have a GP, please contact us directly and we will discuss the steps required for a detailed assessment, triage and treatment. 

What happens when your referral is received?

  • A comprehensive Medical Consultant Consultation is scheduled:
  • Respiratory Sleep Medicine | ENT Medicine. 
  • Dental Sleep medicine assessment if your referral relates to CPAP intolerance or nighttime bruxism with details of any previous diagnosis, along with your referral
  • Sleep testing: Home Sleep Study (HST) or in hospital Polysomnography (PSG), as appropriate.
  • A precise treatment plan is developed with treatment options tailored to your needs.

Treatments we offer

  • CPAP therapy for moderate to severe OSA, tailored to each patient diagnosis and need
  • Oral Appliance Therapy (Mandibular Advancement Device) an appropriate treatment option for patients with mild to moderate Sleep Apnoea, C.P.A.P. Intolerance, Snoring symptoms and Nighttime bruxism. 
  • CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia)
  • Assistance with weight management, supported by Nutritional Consultation, with ongoing support.
